3. กฎการเลือก extent

100% inspection เมื่อ requirement กำหนด, consequence of failure สูง, weld เป็น pressure/critical boundary, process ใหม่หรือยังไม่เสถียร, หรือการซ่อมภายหลังทำได้ยาก

Sampling ใช้ได้เมื่อ contract/code อนุญาต, weld family มีความเหมือนจริง, process มีข้อมูลเสถียร และมี trigger เพิ่ม extent เมื่อพบความผิดปกติ

Escalation เมื่อพบ defect เกินเกณฑ์หรือมี repeat issue ให้กำหนดว่าจะเพิ่ม inspection ไปที่ weld เดียวกัน, batch, shift, welder, machine หรือ weld family ใด
